Yes! At the beginning of June 2021, lawmakers are expected to partially ban the division of apartment buildings into individual condominiums in some cities.
Current deadline
On May 7, 2021, the Bundestag passed the law. The Federal Council also approved this on 28.05.2021. The law will therefore come into force after the Federal President has signed it. It can therefore be assumed that this distribution ban will come into force in June 2021.
Our recommendation
We recommend that owners of apartment buildings who want to keep themselves open for the future also sell individual apartments, check a precautionary division in a condominium owners' association (WEG) and implement this division with a notary before the distribution ban in Lower Saxony comes into force.
