Following the insolvency of EZM Edelstrahlzieherei Mark GmbH, it was initially considered virtually impossible to continue production at the Wetter and Witten sites. The cessation of business operations had already been decided and was in the final stages of implementation.
The insolvency was precipitated by a challenging market environment. EZM is highly dependent on the automotive industry, which is currently experiencing well-known difficulties. In total, approximately 250 jobs were affected. Production had already been completed.
Through the involvement of the Calfin Group, a restart of EZM has now, fortunately, become possible. activelaw and AURICON provided the Calfin Group with comprehensive advice and support throughout the entire process.
The newly established “catch-up” company, EZM GmbH, has since resumed operations at the previous sites in Wetter and Witten with 120 employees.
Thanks to the long-term commitment of the Calfin Group and the development of new business areas, the company now looks to the future with renewed confidence despite the still challenging market conditions. The sites are to be stabilized, further developed, and sustainably realigned.
activelaw and AURICON will continue to provide intensive support for the next stages of the highly positive ongoing restructuring. We are pleased that it has been possible, together with the employees in the region, to ensure the sustainable continuation of the company.
Further investments required for the advancement of the sites in accordance with our restructuring concept have been assured by the shareholder with the support of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. Sparkasse Witten has also contributed very positively in the context of refinancing.
We extend our thanks to all parties involved, in particular the GÖRG team led by Dr. Michael Schaumann, for their continued and constructive support.
All parties now look forward with optimism to the further development of the EZM Group.
